The home cinema, in detail
What separates a large television from a cinema room: the size of the image relative to the viewing distance, the quality of the sound, and the darkness you can achieve in the middle of the day.

The screen
A 77-inch Samsung, 1.70 metres across, mounted at the centre of a backlit slatted wood wall. The armchairs sit at the distance that fills your field of view without making you scan the picture.

The sound
A Bose soundbar, set up before every arrival. This is where most home setups give up: dialogue disappears the moment the soundtrack rises. Here it holds.

The light
Blackout curtains at both windows, indirect lighting behind the slats, a neon sign on the wall. Two curtains, and a bright room becomes a dark one.

The popcorn
An illuminated popcorn machine sits next to the screen, with everything needed to run it. The sound of the kernels popping is part of the screening.

What you watch
The television gives access to the usual streaming apps. You sign in with your own accounts for the length of your stay: we do not provide a subscription, and nothing stays logged in after you leave.
